All the puppies were adopted and taken home on Christmas Eve... Except Poppy who was reserved for a lady in Alaska to pick up on Jan 20th. On Dec 20th Poppy got bit by a spider and her whole paw got infected to where she wouldn't eat or drink on her own. I would feed her every 1&1/2 hours as much as she would take and Karo syrup to keep her sugars up. We took her to a vet on the 21st and he said to just keep watching her temp and feeding her. Then on the 24th she got worse again after her paw popped open and temp went down. So we took her to the ER and they got her an antibiotic and pain med. She lost her toe nail that night and their not sure it will grow back.
All the other puppies were so excited to go home with their new families. And all of the families were so excited for their new family member. Now we just have to decide if we are going to do this again or not. It was a fun adventure but so much work to raise them in the house. At 4 weeks I started taking them outside to go potty every 1&1/2 hours just like newborn but LOTS of them. Love those puppies hope they make good adult dogs someday. This is right before they all started going home... We will miss these cuties!

Puppies 5 weeks old!
So the puppies are growing so fast. I knew they would and I guess I am just thankful they are mini's so they are half the size they would have been. They all just received their 2nd deworming and shots will be this weekend. Matia is so not excited for that day. They are all very active and running although they fall on their face a lot. Poppy has learned how to climb out of the pen so we are going to have to fix that. She is a little smartie pants.

Puppies 4 weeks old
The puppies had another big week as their ears opened and they were able to hear themselves bark and the sounds of the house. They are still waking up during the night for potty breaks and feedings. This week I took them to the vet (which was quite the chore) and they all are doing FABULOUS! All very healthy with no concerns at all. We are keeping one lucky puppy and busy trying to find adoptive families for all the others. We have 3 families committed and excited to add our sweet puppy to their families on Christmas. So 5 more homes we hope to find. We also took the puppies out into the snow for the first time. They were not to sure what to think about that but they all got used to it and started to explore like they do. They also had their second bath, trying to get used to that whole idea as well.

Puppies 3 weeks and Winter riding begins
Dec 4th - This week has been a busy week for the puppies. They started eating soaked puppy food and going potty on the newspaper and all of their eyes are opened. So they are seeing the world in a whole new experience! They are still very stumbly as they walk but they are getting better everyday. They are starting to show some personality but still sleep a lot. Love our puppies.
This week we also started winter riding lessons. It has been a super cold week so gloves, hats, thermals and jackets were all very necessary for us to have a good time. We have 12 students enrolled for winter lessons with 5 brand new riders. This should be a good session.

Puppies 2 weeks
Nov 27 - So the puppies are now 2 weeks old and it is amazing how fast they grow. They have been so fun to watch squirm around and how fast they can now move when they smell mommy. Yesterday their eyes have started opening. Tulip (the pink girl) is now starting to walk but then she lands on her face. Both of her eyes are slowly opening. Turquois has one open eye and one closed eye and is also starting to walk. We just moved them into the kitchen area so that we could give them a little more room for when they are walking around. This is also giving them a potty/play area. This week we expect them to change quite a bit it should be fun to watch!

Fall Riding Lessons are Finished Winter begins Dec 4th
I just wanted to thank everyone that was involved in the fall lessons. I hope everyone had a great time during lessons and that you all felt like your riding abilities increased during this 12 week session. I know Maximus might have been a little difficult for his riders to adjust to him and I appreciate your patience with him while he adapted to our ranch. Due to popular demand, we have decided to start a winter lessons session starting Dec 3rd. There were just some students who couldn't bare the thought of not riding for 3 months. Even though it will be cold hopefully we can enjoy it. I will be the instructor for this session since we have not filled up the 4 classes needed to hire Kailey. But hopefully it will still be fun! Love you all and hope to see you back in the spring!

Puppies are 1 week old!
So the puppies all made it safely to one week old. They are still sleeping a lot but starting to move around a bit more while they are awake. Daisy is such a good mom. She is starting to give them a little more alone time yet keeps a very close eye on them. She has her bed right next to theirs so she can watch them but then gets in their whelping box to feed them when they need it. She is eating a ton and drinking so much to keep all 9 fed.
They have all mostly doubled their weight which is a great sign. I have dewclawed them all and they recovered very quickly. We all love on them and I haven't left them for more then 2 hours without a babysitter. We are all just really excited for the day they open their eyes, and ears so they can see what this world is all about. I am going to start working on a house for them in the mud room with a doggie door to the outside kennel. This will be their next move once they are too big for the whelping box.
