Our second night of our first Horse Show

All of these kids did fabulous. I am so proud at how far they have come. Most of these students were scared to death to even start grooming a horse let alone riding the horse and controlling the horse. My hopes are that everyone had a great time coming and showing their families how far they have come and what they can do these days.
Emma, Addie, Ella and Addison... I am so proud of each and everyone of you girls you did fabulous!

Sadie, Annika, Allee, and Tayler... You girls are amazing I am so glad you guys participated in our show it was so fun to have you there.

Kennadi, Lexie, Annie and Daisy it was so fun to teach you all this summer I hope you had a great time and we will see you next summer.

Show Quizes

To pass Level 1 each rider must get at least a score of 20 on all combined quizzes. I have listed the riders who are missing a quiz. If they feel like they would like to take the test before their current score goes on their final then please bring them 20-25 min early so they have time to take the test before the show starts. If they have taken the quiz I have listed have them bring the quiz so I can add their score to their current score. Thanks and hope you are all excited to see your children ride.

Braxton - Horse Anatomy
Jacie - Saddle
Patrice - Saddle
Belle - Bridle
Lexie - Saddle
Kennadi - Saddle
Annie - Bridle
Daisy - Bridle
Addison W - Saddle
Sadie - All Quizes

Of course they can still come do the show but if they want to start working on Level 2 they must have all tests taken with a 20 or higher. There is 34 possible with all quizzes combined.

Maximus formerly known as Peanut

Meet Maximus adopted (Aug 16, 2013) he is Kiwi's replacement in lessons we purchased him from the same institute we adopted Holly from. Maximus (formerly known as Peanut) is an older registered gelding who has been used as a lesson horse for beginning riders for the last eight years. He is a Arab Quarter horse mix and has done a little of everything in his life. He is a larger, well build horse, at 16 hands, and can carry a large adult. He is up to date on all shots, worming, hoof, and teeth care. He is in very good health and is easy to shoe, clip, bath, and load. He gets along well with other horses and his ground manners are very good. He has given lessons in English and Western, barrel racing, jumping, bareback riding, dressage, and much more. He loves the trails and I have never had a problem with him on a trail ride, including, crossing water, fighting with other horses, or anything else.

Sweet Kiwi

So some changes are being made to our ranch and we have some replacements taking place. So for those of you who have had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time with Kiwi I am sure you will agree when we say we will truly miss her. She has been a great sport and so patient with all of our learning. We would also like to thank Tayla, Lily, Joey, Kyle and Emilee for sharing their sweet Kiwi with us. Farewell Kiwi we will miss you.

Crazy Creek Show Schedule and Details

With this being our first show I am hoping we scheduled enough time to stay on schedule. Please have your riders to the arena 15 minutes early to make sure their horses are saddled. Also you might want to bring chairs. We will be moving around from arena to arena but if you prefer to sit then bring a chair. Also my children are missing the lemonade stands they had on 700 N. so they are planning a "Concessions Stand" please don't feel obligated to purchase anything but I wanted to warn you just incase you have little ones. I sure hope everyone is looking forward to this show it is just something extra fun. If anyone doesn't feel like performing in the show they can schedule a makeup class with me instead. Your riders have all been working very hard all summer. Some horses have been more cooperative then others but all the riders have done FABULOUS and I am so proud of them.

Crazy Creek Level 1 Show Trail Course

So this is the trail course the riders passing off level 1 will be performing. Again, it is all for fun and we don't expect everyone to pass every obstacle.

Crazy Creek Level 1 Show

Next week most of our students will be performing our level 1 show. So I will list the requirements to be able to participate in the show and then also the patterns so the riders can study them and be ready for the show on Tue and Wed. Remember this is all for fun and to show your family how much you have learned in just the last 3 months.
  1. Must take all 4 tests with a score of 20/33 or higher.
  2. Must be able to groom and saddle horse unassisted.
  3. Must direct bit and chin strap for bridle also do up throat latch.
  4. Must be able to mount horse unassisted.
  5. Must score 7/10 or higher in Showmanship (halter)
  6. Must score 7/10 or higher in Horsemanship course.
  7. Must score 10/15 or higher in Trail course.
  8. Must complete barrel pattern without DQ at a walk is fine.
  9. Must complete pole pattern without DQ at a walk is fine.
  10. Must dismount safely and tie horse correctly.

I know this is a lot for most of these kids but they have come such a long way in the last 3 months I feel like they are ready to move to level 2. Remember if your child doesn't complete level 1 at this show they will have the opportunity to try again when they are ready. We allow students to all go at their own pace to create a fun and safe environment.

Welcome to Crazy Creek Ranch

Yahoo! I am so excited to be starting a blog about our Crazy Creek Ranch experiences. I hope you all find this just as entertaining as we do living on the ranch. This summer has been a super busy yet fun experience. As you know in June we started teaching riding lessons to a few kids (Annie, Daisy, Shaylee, Gracie, Adi, Emma, Tayla, Allee, Sadie, Tayler, Ella, Mylee, Braxton, Nathan, Natalie, Baylee, Jaysha, Alysa, and Lynsee) and those few kids have turned into 40 students by the end of the summer we had added (Addison W. Addison C. Emma, Jacie, Belle, Lexie, Kennedi, Jana, Maddie, Macie, Patrice, Gracie, Hollingsworth girls, Ulga's boys and Celia I am sure there were more). So things are a lot more busy then I had intended but I just can't hold back sharing this life with those who have a desire to be part of it. I have never had to advertise for riding lessons it has all been word of mouth. There is so much to be learned on the ranch about life. So here we go our crazy experiences at Crazy Creek Ranch.
